RESUMO

Introduction: Sports of all kinds even though have an alluring property of keeping their onlookers stuck to their place, the introduction of Technology, however, revolutionized it all together. Not only in legal sports but also the training and teaching methods have been reformed. The use of Information Communication and Technology (ICT) based technologies [Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), Hawkeye, Computer vision, Artificial intelligence, etc.] has moderately increased the interactive nature of sports. Employing ICT-driven technologies have continuously been increasing performance levels due to which high effective performance levels have been achieved. In addition to offering information to the users, it also acts as a means for connecting and interacting with the remaining world. In this article, we provide a review of the studies considering the developments and impact of employing ICT technology on sports, especially cricket. The study has focussed on domain-specific developments in cricket sports: developments in the batting domain, bowling domain, and wicketkeeping as well. Methods: For the study, the analysis has been done following the PRISMA guidelines. Results: The study found that even though the researchers have done justifiable work in employing technology in sports as a whole but the domain-specific contribution in sports like cricket is not at the level as is need of the hour. In addition to the mentioned domains in the study, the research should gain speed in other domains like domain-specific Talent Identification for both genders, different age groups, diverse sports, etc. Discussion: undoubtedly, the sports domain is employing technology at a vast level but a few domains like sports talent identification especially related to the most famous games like cricket require an immediate and intense focus of the researchers. Since this domain is still carrying out a traditional coach-oriented approach. There is an acute need to revolutionize the domain by incorporating modern technologies into it.

RESUMO

COVID-19 crippled all the domains of our society. The inevitable lockdowns and social distancing procedures have hit the process of traditional sports talent identification (TiD) severely. This will interrupt the career-excellency of athletes and will also affect the future talent in the years to come. We explore the effect of COVID-19 on sports talent identification and propose an IoT/Fog-based framework for theTiD process during COVID-19 and COVID-like situations. Our proposed novel six-layer model facilitates the sports talent identification remotely using the various latest Information and Communication Technologies like IoT, fog and cloud computing. All the stakeholders like experts, coaches, players, institutes etc. are taken into consideration. The framework is mobile, widely accessible, scalable, cost-effective, secure, platform/location independent and fast. A brief case study of cricket talent identification using the proposed framework is also provided.

RESUMO

COVID-19 is a global pandemic that has affected many countries in a short span of time. People worldwide are susceptible to this deadly disease. To control the prevailing havoc of coronavirus, researchers are adopting techniques like plasma therapy, proning, medicines, etc. To stop the rapid spread of COVID-19, contact tracing is one of the important ways to check the infected people. This paper explains the various challenges people and health practitioners are facing due to COVID-19. In this paper, various ways with which the impact of COVID-19 can be controlled using IoT technology have been discussed. A six-layer architecture of IoT solutions for containing the deadly COVID-19 has been proposed. In addition to this, the role of machine learning techniques for diagnosing COVID-19 has been discussed in this paper, and a quick explanation of the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAVs) applications for contact tracing has also been specified. From the study conducted, it is evident that IoT solutions can be used in various ways for restricting the impact of COVID-19. Furthermore, IoT can be used in the healthcare sector to assure people's safety and good health with minimal costs.

RESUMO

Ensuring soil strength, as well as preliminary construction cost and duration prediction, is a very crucial and preliminary aspect of any construction project. Similarly, building strong structures is very important in geotechnical engineering to ensure the bearing capability of structures against external forces. Hence, in this first-of-its-kind state-of-the-art review, the capability of various artificial intelligence (AI)-based models toward accurate prediction and estimation of preliminary construction cost, duration, and shear strength is explored. Initially, background regarding the revolutionary AI technology along with its different models suited for geotechnical and construction engineering is presented. Various existing works in the literature on the usage of AI-based models for the abovementioned applications of construction and maintenance are presented along with their advantages, limitations, and future work. Through analysis, various crucial input parameters with great impact on the estimation of preliminary construction cost, duration, and soil shear strength are enumerated and presented. Lastly, various challenges in using AI-based models for accurate predictions in these applications, as well as factors contributing to the cost-overrun issues, are presented. This study can, thus, greatly assist civil engineers in efficiently using the capabilities of AI for solving complex and risk-sensitive tasks, and it can also be used in Internet of things (IoT) environments for automated applications such as smart structural health-monitoring systems.
